Some Rainy Day Photos

Another rainy day at the shipyard… which meant more interior painting.  A fresh coat of paint was put on the sole (floor) today… pictures of the interior to come.

Sun tomorrow – hopefully so some topside painting can get done!

A Week in Yard

Guildive has been out of the water for a little over a week now but the weather has not been on our side.  We have had several days of rain with more to come starting tomorrow!!  The rain has not made it easy sanding and painting the hull; however some progress has been made.  Most of the topsides are sanded and primed and the bottom paint is sanded ready for a new coat of paint.  One problem now is that I don’t have a tall enough ladder yet to reach the top of the bow… but thats an easy fix!  With all the rain it has allowed me to get some of the interior painting done, no color change but a nice fresh coat of paint!  Zander has been busy in the engine room removing part of the shaft and getting into some of the prep that has to be done to prop up the engine to replace the mounts.  We were very fortunate to have good friends Maria and Kathy come and visit from Florida last weekend to help with some of the engine work… and of course a good time!  Zander is off to the barge again and will be gone for about another week and hopefully by the time he gets back the boat will be looking better!  Pictures to come soon!!!

Out she comes!

Guildive made it to haul out, so now she is sitting pretty on the ground waiting for her new coat of paint!  We left around 7am this morning for the slow and foggy transit down the river to the boat yard.  The boat yard is up a winding shallow creek where the charted depth is only 4 feet at the end, and we draw 7.5 feet!!!  We planned this day for a super high tide and even still with the water unusually high we were still biting our nails all the way up watching the depth sounder read numbers such as 0.5 feet of water under the keel…. we were just hoping that our depth sounder was calibrated correctly!

We have our work cut out for us…but we knew that!
